"A food portrait"
various materials, glue, paper.
Gaia M. 2010
I’ve
started modifying my own photo with Photoshop.
I’ve simplified the
contrast between light and shadow to make my photo look
like a graphic work.
The
work has been developed in four panels.
The peculiarity is given by
the materials.
Lights and shadows are defined by the use of unconventional
material: food.
This
choice gives birth not only to a self portrait, but also to a set of
smells, tastes, colors and tactile experiences.
Approaching
to the panel “salt – pepper” the observer can see the salt’s
texture, and pepper might cause discomfort in the nose!
The
panels are: salt-pepper, sugar-cocoa, hot pepper-ginger,
nutmeg-sesame.
With
the use of these materials I want to express one of my main features:
Gluttony. Gluttony, played by the sense of Taste and supported by the
other four senses.
These foods are
some elements that compose my diet and also
compose myself, because we are what we
eat. So, we must take care of our palate.
We
must learn enjoying food, not just eating.
